Alex has been a member of NCUPS since 1991. He began diving in 1988 in California and Baja and bought his first underwater camera in 1990. Dive trips to the Caribbean, Micronesia, and the length of the Red Sea soon followed. The last five years have been a search for ever more exotic dive destinations, including Fiji, the Solomons, the northern half of the Great Barrier Reef, Isla Del Coco in Costa Rica, the Maldives, twelve Indonesian islands from Bali to Alor and Christmas Island in the Republic of Kiribati. He started with a Nikonos V, switched briefly to a housed system, and returned to the Nikonos V with one or two Ikelite 200 strobes. When possible, he tries to find animals who are exhibiting some characteristic behavior or who seem curious about the photographer.
