Ruth Chofre DIVER SPOTLIGHTING METRIDIA This image was taken in the "metridium fields," which, by my guesstimate, is about a half mile swim out, just off San Carlos Beach. Jim McDermott is my "model." It was my second dive of the competition. Ironically, I didn't want to make that dive...being exhausted from the first...but Jim insisted that my dive buddy, Patti Baugh, and I join him for a second dive at the Breakwater. My goal was to practice the lighting techniques Berkley White, and owner of BACKSCATTER, had taught in a recent class for D100 and D70 digital shooters. (Probably, and in all honesty, I was thinking of FOOD, a HOT shower...and sleep...;-) Nikon D100 camera in a Light & Motion Titan housing, two Nikonos 105 strobes with diffusers, short Ultralite arms, 16mm lens and a Sea & Sea dome port. TTL flash (bracketing by using the Titan’s ROC capabilities for more or less light) at 1/200 sec., f4.5 and a Light & Motion modeling light. |
