Ken Howard – Big Animals!

January 12 @ 6:30 pm - 10:00 pm PDT

Ken’s presentation will feature images of large marine animals taken on his trips within the past few years to the Revillagigedo Islands (mantas), Dominica (sperm whales), Isla Mujeres (whale sharks), San Ignacio Lagoon (grey whales), Brazil (Amazon river dolphins) and the San Juan Islands (orcas).

Ken’s Bio:
Ken was SCUBA certified in 1972 and got his advanced certification in 1973—the same year he took his first underwater photograph. Ken joined NCUPS in 1976 and was an active member until just a few years ago. Ken won Best of Show at the “first annual” Monterey Beach Photo Competition (now the Monterey Shootout) back in the early 1980’s. He has also won the top prize in contests sponsored by LAUPS, National Wildlife, Outdoor California and Popular Photography. Ken played a strong role in educating NCUPS members by developing and conducting seminars on “Effective Composition” and “Entering Photo Contests” several times each over the years.

>> Presentation starts at 7:30, but doors open and 6:30 and if you’d like to order some pizza, or maybe a nice cold beverage, please get there a little early so that we minimize disruption during the presentation itself. Like they say in Hawaii, “Mahalo.”

January’s theme is “Straight Out Of Compton — err, I mean Camera!” This month, bring in your best picture that has never had any post-processing done of any kind. (e.g. No cropping, no shading, no contrast/brightness edits – nothing!)

NCUPS’ Monthly Club Meeting will be held in a NEW location starting February 10, 2017.

More details to follow.
