Yearly NCUPS Events

From the beginning, NCUPS has sponsored annual events and contests to encourage education and growth in the art of underwater photography. Our major events include:

California Beach Dive Photo Competition (Spring) -- May 31 and June 1, 2008. A fun weekend where photographers compete to take the best photo beach diving along the Monterey coast. Big prizes - see our sponsor list! Make your motel reservations now!

SEA Competition (Fall) -- Annual international competition of photos mailed in from around the world.

Bob Commer Award for Excellence in Underwater Photography -- The Northern California Underwater Photographic Society (NCUPS) has established an annual award for excellence in underwater photography in memory of the late Bob Commer, a founding member of NCUPS and a pioneer in many aspects of underwater photography.

DEMA -- DEMA Show is the only international trade event for the diving, action water sports and adventure travel industries.

MiniComps -- Monthly contest at club meetings based around a theme.

Dive in Earth Day 2007 -- April 19, 2008. Earth Day underwater cleanup dive at Del Monte Beach, Monterey, California. Hosted by Modesto Dream Divers and sponsored by DUI and California Ships2Reefs. Registration is $25 before April 5, and $35 thereafter, which includes lunch, t-shirt, and raffle. Visit Modesto Dream Divers for more information or to register for the event.

Long Beach Scuba Show -- June 21 & 22, 2008. North America's BIGGEST Consumer Dive Expo. It’s time to begin assembling your films for consideration for the SCUBA Show 2008 Continuous Underwater Film Festival. Submission deadline is March 14, 2008.
